SUBJECT : Problems with 2.15C Login
DATE : 6/21/90
OS VERSION : 286 v2.15C
REVISION :
SHELL VERSION :
PROBLEM : Customer couldn't login to there 2.15c server. The
default login script would hang after the greeting message when login in as the
default users supervisor or guest. Using login.exe from public-6 also failed
the same way.
SOLUTION : The next step was to try attach.exe from public-5 which
worked fine. She was able to see all files and able to create mapings etc..
After attaching we then tried to reproduce the problem by login back in
but at this point everything worked fine until we rebooted the w.s. and
then login would hang on the system login script we had created while
things were working. After using write statements in the system login script
we verified that it was hanging at the point when s1: was being mapped.
So this lead us to the set path command in the autoexec.bat which was:
"set path=;c:\games\chess;c:\utils"
Once we removed the first ";" then login worked fine on bootup. Trying to
duplicate the problem in-house most login.exe files do not have this
problem but I was able to duplicate the problem with version 1.73b of
login.exe 57143 8-15-89 which is the 2.15c login.exe.
